Arena season 9.5

Hi Honorbound!

Everyone's honor will be reset to 0 this Tuesday in preparation for season 10 and to kick off the Season 9.5 event.

Season 9.5 runs from the time of the honor reset till the end of the arena week on Monday February 19th. This will not affect the usual event schedule.

The leader board will be that of the Top Players under the Arena tab. There will be prizes for those in top 100 by the end of the four weeks with the following prize tier:

#1-10: Emerald Defender (mythic commander), 500 dragon marks, 5x100% essence
#11-25: Emerald Defender, 400 dragon marks, 1x100% essence
#26-50: Kyo the Vengeful (mythic commander), 250 dragon marks, 5x10% essence
#51-75: 2000 emblems, 200 dragon marks
#76-100: 700 emblems, 100 dragon marks

The current dragon mark hero will be replaced in the beginning of March.

   

Emerald Defender, abilities: Deep Slash, Mana Infusion, Mana Burst 5

   

Kyo the Vengeful, abilities: Infernal Slash, Instant Toxin, Minor Heal

Having deep slash replaced with some useful passive or at least better similar ability (like infernal slash or primal/brilliant blow) would be much better

Honestly this is a pretty bad comm compared to previous between-seasons. Been saving a lot of resources all season 9 just to be greeted by this... As a f2p player it's very disappointing!

I agree with _EZ_. One of the abilities should be changed. I also suggest changing the Deep Slash (or even one of the other abilities) to a general passive like Roar or another great ability like Empowering Chant. That one change would actually make it worth the grind. Heck I'd even consider spend diamonds to reach top 25 in that case!

If no change then most of us will stick with recent free Derrick from Arena or pray for luck in next Phasmer.

I agree with the sentiments expressed by others. The reward for such a highly anticipated event is disappointing.

The previous mini-season offered a much better reward, and I fail to comprehend whether the decision-makers lack knowledge of what makes a hero valuable or if they simply choose not to provide us with a compelling reason to participate in the event.

Here's why this hero falls short:

The first skill deals minimal damage and is seldom utilized.

The other two skills provide mana, but in the current meta, mana usage is not prominent. The most effective skill requires 6 mana, and considering the availability of mana rings, guild relics, and similar items, these skills become redundant.

In essence, the top prize in the only genuine arena event features a hero with three ineffective skills.

It turns out there is a mistake in the description of the abilities of the Emerald Defender. It says Mana Burst 5 but comes with Mana Burst 3. Mana Burst 5 is a typo but, typo or not, it was what was expected so it has been decided to match the commander to the description here and change Mana Burst 3 to 5. Exactly when and how is not clear yet. An attempt will be made to fix the ability. If that doesn’t work, it will have to be a process of exchange through Support for those of the 25 winners who are interested.

please fix the mana burst thing! That was the best point of grinding for this hero!
